Volleyball Success

By Andrew Jason

Last year, the Bison women’s volleyball team finished with an impressive record of 26 – 9, continuing their success from the last several years. They ended the season with a nO. 1 rankING in the Summit League for the fourth straight year and are nationally ranked No. 42 out of 327, coming in above schools like Ohio, Texas Tech and BYU. Head coach, Kari Thompson, said she’s not afraid of the pressure for this upcoming season.

The two allstars to watch for this year are Megan Lambertson and Brynn Joki. Lambertson was one of 48 athletes selected by USA Volleyball to participate in this summer’s U.S. Women’s National A2 Team Program. Joki has taken on a lot of leadership with the team and hopes to help lead the team to the NCAA Tournament.

Top 5 things Kari Thompson is excited for this season

August 7: That’s move in day. We can finally see everyone all together and it gets really real.

First day of competition: That’s always one of my favorite days.

Summit League play: Summit League play is going to be really competitive this year.

Conference tournament at home: It’s always fun to have the opportunity to host that.

NCAA Tournament: It’s always our goal to make the tournament but there are a lot of things that need to happen before that.
