After the first slip up of the season, the Bison returned home to clinch a share of its seventh straight Missouri Valley Football Conference on Saturday. The fifth-ranked Bison blew the doors off the University of South Dakota’s defense en route to a 49-14 victory in front of a crowd of 18, 623 at the Fargodome.
Easton Stick played a near-perfect game. The junior quarterback went 11 of 12 passing, amassing 307 yards through the air, including a fourth-quarter touchdown to tight end Connor Wentz.
Sophomore Ty Brooks emerged as a new homerun hitter out of the Bison backfield while exploding for 152 yards and three touchdowns. True freshman running back Seth Wilson and junior Bruce Anderson also tallied touchdowns as the Bison rushing attack returned to form on Senior Night.
The defense responded in proper “Code Green” fashion and allowed 14 points from the USD offense. It was the Coyotes lowest scoring output in two years.
Both Allison and Stick took home Missouri Valley Football Conference Player of the Week awards.
With Saturday’s win, the Bison are one win away from clinching the MVFC title outright. SDSU and Northern Iowa sit in second in the league with conference records of 5-2. The Jacks will go to Vermillion Saturday to play the Coyotes, while UNI hosts winless Indiana State.
The Bison will close the regular season against Illinois State at noon Saturday, in Normal, Illinois.
